Lusterware Goblets, Plates and Vases
Lustreware for the Home and Kitchen
Our lustreware is captivating, Arabian-inspired, Australian-made ceramic pottery. It is celebrated for its iridescent, metallic finish, which shimmers beautifully in the light.
This technique dates back to the 9th century in the Middle East, when early Islamic potters in Iraq developed it to mimic the look of precious metals. It later spread through Persia, Egypt, and Europe, evolving across cultures and centuries into the art form we know today.
At our studio, we honour this rich tradition by crafting a unique range of lustreware goblets, plates, and vases in various styles and sizes. Applying metallic oxides over a glazed surface achieves the signature lustrous effect. A second, low-temperature firing follows this in a reduction or "muffle" kiln, where oxygen is carefully limited.
The result is a stunning, light-catching surface that makes every piece a truly one-of-a-kind creation.
